The Tie
In music, the tie is a curved line joining two (or more) notes of the same pitch, the second note(s) is not played, but its time value is added to that of the first note.
In example A, the first note is held for three counts.
In example B, the first note is held for seven counts.
Example 56 introduces the tie and is in the key of Eb.
